International: BP and Repsol release case studies on water management

BP has released a case study that focuses on water minimisation in refining at the Australian Kwinana Refinery. The programme aimed to minimise water usage and increase reuse, encourage usage of lower-quality water instead of potable water wherever possible, and achieve zero discharge of process waste to local bodies of water. Repsol’s case study focuses on water management through the use of the Repsol Water Tool (RWT) to identify and assess water risks that have stabilised Repsol’s performance against the 2013 baseline data. The studies were released via IPIECA, the oil and gas industry association for the environment.
